Production Controller

The Production Controller (PC) is not a part of the system being described, but it is presumed to exist is some form and be responsible for document control and production inventory, among other things.

Fitting-in with manufacturing best-practices, it is assumed that programs that run the various Workstation Controllers (WC), Robot Controllers (RC), and Tool Controllers (TC) in the production environment are under document control and that they reside here, accessible over a network connection, where they may be downloaded to be used at the request of the device. It is also assumed that an inventory of tools, tool bits (end-effectors), consumables and raw parts (those going into the finished goods, such as screws, rods, bearings, sensors and PCBs, etc.) is kept at the PC.
